Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends- John 15:13
In 1941, St. Maximilian Kolbe sacrificed his life to save a Jewish prisoner in Auschwitz. Seventy four years later, Tim & Melissa were married in a church named after that great man, which I thought was appropriate since marriage takes daily sacrifices adding up to a lifetime of laying down your life for one another. Melissa & Tim are the kind of people who are quick to serve others, which I’ve known about Tim since I met him 24 years ago, and have learned about Melissa in the time they’ve been together. I even had to remind Melissa a couple of times that since she was the bride, other people were supposed to open the door for her, not the other way around! Despite the thundering storm that swept in during the ceremony, we were even able to sneak away and take a few photos in a park next to their reception site before eating the most scrumptious Vietnamese meal and enjoying the company of family & friends!
P.S. Note the photo of Tim, myself, and Tim’s sister, Kyndra, and understand why we were constantly mistaken for siblings while growing up.
