As Danielle & David’s family and friends sloshed through inches of slushy hail to go inside after the ceremony, I commented to Danielle’s grandfather that this had been quite the adventure! He quickly shot back, “Adventure? Most people would call this a nightmare!” And he was right, most people would call a wedding day with torrential and incessant rain, inches of hail, and temperatures in the low 30s a nightmare. Thankfully, David & Danielle aren’t most people! Brad and I, along with most of the guests, had travelled hundreds of miles to celebrate their marriage in the mountains of Colorado, only to find storms obscuring those mountains. Most people would be devastated, but these two didn’t let anything steal their joy. They still said their vows in front of the mountains, and made every inconvenience something to laugh at. It’s said that a person’s character is revealed by the company he keeps, and David & Danielle’s friends and family only reflected what I already knew about them. I didn’t hear a single complaint or negative comment the entire weekend, which doesn’t happen on even the most gorgeous of wedding days! We prayed and prayed for a miracle in the weather, but I think that the joy God brought everyone on the wedding day far exceeded any miracle of blue skies and sunshine.
Plus, stay tuned for a day after session which was indeed blessed with blue skies and mountain views!
