Too often, the stress of worrying about the details and traditions of weddings swallows the true significance of a day meant to celebrate a commitment of love. Farrah’s and Mikes wedding delighted me in the fact that there wasn’t even a hint of stress to take away from their joy! I don’t know that any eyes remained dry during the ceremony, including mine. Again and again, I’m moved deeply by the way that weddings bring out the importance of family, because family is inextricably linked with family. Weddings are a unique time of joining families together, celebrating our loved ones, and remembering those who contributed so much to our lives, but sadly can’t be there. This high value of family resonated deeply in the ceremony, when Farrah’s “Dallas mom,” who so beautifully performed the ceremony, pointed out that Farrah really fell in love with Mike when she saw how much he treasured his three children. Likewise, Mike knew that he wanted to marry Farrah when he saw the way she took his children into her heart. The other moment that straight up made me cry came when Farrah and Mike dedicated a song to Farrah’s grandparents, who have been married for almost 70 years. Her grandmother’s expression when “their song” began playing was precious. Farrah and Mike, I enjoyed every minute of y’all’s beautiful day!
