A Thrill of Hope

Oh holy night,
The stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of the dear Savior’s birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appear’d and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

On the Saturday before Christmas, Brad and I visited the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar and enjoyed listening to Alpha Rev, one of the few bands for which I will be unapologetically fan girly. The band ended with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Oh Holy Night. Christmas hymns never fail to move my soul, and the lyrics struck me with the magnitude of Jesus’ appearance so many years ago. I’m awestruck that God sees me with such preciousness that he would come to earth and share our human experience. I pray that I never grow too dull to feel again that thrill of hope when I remember his great love.
